What is Train to Gain?

According the Learning Skills Council (LSC), the Government organisation charged with making England better skilled and more competitive, millions of people go to work every day without the skills they need to do their jobs effectively. This problem is at its most acute in the transportation sector where little if any training has been provided in spite of the obvious business benefits such as improved operational efficiency and staff retention.

The LSC developed the Train to Gain programme to support effective workplace training and is now available for drivers, warehouse staff, passenger assistants and managers working in the commercial and public transport sectors. The LSC will currently fund a first NVQ Level 2 qualification for all eligible learners in England. Funding is committed until 2012.
