Meet the Managers

M2 Training has a strong management team under the leadership of our Chairman Dr Kevin Bond who has managed large public and private sector organisations. Simon Collier's experience in marketing communications makes sure our product is expertly communicated. Qualifications Manager Bob Matthews understands how training can be made relevant to the working lives of drivers while our National Operations Manager Richard Garrett keeps the M2 Training wheels turning in an efficient and orderly fashion. All this expertise provides the traction to support the vision of Richard Henson MBE whose career long experience of training drivers provides us with a significant competitive advantage and market leadership.

Dr. Kevin Bond
Chairman

Kevin has extensive experience of the Public and Private sectors. He served as a police officer for 18 years achieving the rank of Chief Superintendent. He then worked for The National Rivers Authority becoming Chief Executive in 2000. He then became Chief Executive of Kelda Plc, the parent company of Yorkshire Water, until 2005. following the attack on The Twin Towers in The USA, Kevin was asked to establish a new government agency to improve the performance of policing -The Police Standards Unit. In this role he worked directly for The Prime Minister and the Home Secretary.

Richard Henson MBE
Operations Director and Head of Training

Richard had a full service career in the British Army, culminating in the position of Senior Trainer at the Army School of Transport - responsible for the design and delivery of training for 16,000 drivers, pa. He then became Regional Training Director for First Buses, responsible for the recruitment and training of 3000 drivers in the North West Region. Since founding M2 with Simon Collier, Richard has managed all course design, and the recruitment and training of the M2 Operations team.

Simon Collier
Marketing Director

Simon can demonstrate a 30 year career in marketing, 20 years of which has been in the Communications Industry. Such has been the success of M2's marketing, they are now the largest peripatetic training provider in the country, for the Passenger Transport Industry

Bob Matthews
Qualifications Manager

Bob Matthews has been with M2 for three years. He comes from a Qualifications development background in the Passenger Transport Industry. Previous roles include: NVQ Advisor for Stagecoach UK Bus, Implementation & Quality Assurance Executive for AMD (The Awarding Body for the Passenger Transport Industry) and was a Regional Manager for NACRO.

Phil Linehan
Director of Operations

Phil Linehan retired from the British Army in 2002 after a distinguished career. His last post was that of Defence Master Driver where he was responsible for the safety, quality and delivery of training to military and civil service driving personnel across the MOD. He then spent six years as Head of Training with one of UK’s leading logistics training providers. With his knowledge and experience of private and publicly funded training projects, Phil is a valuable addition to our team.

Richard Garrett
National Operations Systems Manager

After university, Richard Garret worked in Further Education for nine years mastering the arts of Curriculum Planning and Development, Funding and Data Management, Audit, Partnerships and Contracts Management. He joined M2 Training at the start of 2007. Richard works closely with our Regional Managers to ensure that operations within M2 Training comply with the relevant Government funding, audit and contractual requirements.
